Beach Vacay: Day 4 and 5

Day 4
Remember I said in a previous post about our beach plan to get subs to-go from a place called Frank and Louie’s? Well, when we got there on Day 2 it was closed! We read that they would re-open on Thursday, so that meant that we had to wait two WHOLE days to get our hands on those delectable hoagies. If you are in Rehoboth in the future, you’ve gotta go get yours.

Honestly, my #5 needed a little bit of kick to make it just right for my palate. This means that I have the perfect excuse to go get me another before the vacay ends. After our submarine lunch, we had to get ice cream because well, the little birdy told us to.

Day 5
The agenda for this day was:

  1. Return for another morning workout at Crossfit Rehoboth (CFR)
  2. Visit Delaware’s first winery called Nassau Valley Vineyard (NVV)
  3. Say hi to the moo moo’s at Hopkins Farm Creamery.

After my workout at CFR, because it was little cooler, we decided to skip the beach and head north again. At NVV we did the $5 tasting of our choice of 6 of their vinos. Sadly, I have to report to you drinking their stuff was like drinking flavored water from Nestle. I would say most of their stuff lacked the “backbone”. I guess I’ve been spoiled by my visit to Napa few years ago and tasting, for example, the pinot by Davis Bynum–who btw was first to plant pinot grapes in the Russian River Valley in the early 70’s.

The highlight of day 5, however, was the ice cream at Hopkins Farm Creamery. Seeing that there was a farm nearby, we decided to head to this bastion of Holsteins (milking cows). Our intention was simply to have Mr. Man say “hi’ya” to the cows and try their fresh homemade ice cream. Unlike the wine we tasted, arguably this was the best ice cream we’ve gobbled up in a long time. Precursor to how good it was going to be was when the lady in front of us ordered $28 worth of ice cream, as the Italians would say “that’sa a lot of ice cream”.

It’s been five great days of indulgence and total merriment. In fact, I can’t remember which day it is –a sign I say that we are having a really good time. After eating burritos, Boardwalk fries, yummy sandwiches, Grotto’s pizza, Italian subs, and too many ice cream cones to count, we figured it would be best to eat a little cleaner for dinner.

On the menu: chicken breast, corn on the cob, and broccoli.

THE END
