Wow, it’s the last day of our beach trip and boy has it been fun. The most pressing issue of this day:

Get up early enough to get in line to get croissants from Cafe Papillon before they run out.

Kate has been itching to get her hands on them the entire week. Papillon, which means butterfly in French, is our favorite French bakery in Rehoboth. I even broke my habit of skipping breakfast to eat these delectable patisseries–my favorite is sweet cheese.

Our second thing to do was to scope out the Farmer’s Market in Lewes, DE. As it turns out, this market was one of best farmer’s markets we ever visited. With historic buildings interspersing the venders, I would say this market had an old world, mom-and-pop charm that you rarely see today.

Spoil of the day: Pumpkins, Crispin Apples, Green Zebra Tomatoes, and Ground Cherries

After doodling around the grounds and checking out some of the historical buildings, we headed back to Rehoboth for sushi. Unfortunately, this is when the beach god of Rehoboth decided to cast his lot against me. The sushi I had for lunch was not sitting well with me and by evening I was feeling preeety sick–I could barely move and I honestly didn’t think I was gonna be able to make the drive on Sunday.

Don’t know if I’ll be going back here

The rice was still warm which I thought was odd but I think the real culprit was the octopus
But before all that went down, Kate, Christopher, and I were able to enjoy some final family beach time.

Sun, sand, son, and spouse. I can’t imagine a better week–beside the minor food poisoning of course. All in all, Rehoboth was not only Christopher’s first beach trip but was one of my most relaxing trips. But at the end of the day, nothing compares to your own bed and pillows. Not only that, we missed our old man Pepper, our beloved black and white dog.
Thanks for coming for the ride to Mr. Man’s first beach trip to the First State. I hope you had as much fun as we did.
